When my counselor mentioned I transfer to a dual diagnosis program from a drug and alcohol program I got scared. Then he explained that the drug and alcohol program did not have the capacity to meet my psychiatric needs. That a dual diagnosis program could treat my drug, alcohol and psychiatric problems. So off I went to a dual diagnosis program.
Although I felt so sick to be this sick, he was right. the dual diagnosis program focused right in on my problem and treated me with medication and comfort. Interesting enough the dual diagnosis program was also able to provide me with another perspective than was the drug and alcohol program. I am grateful to Lakeview for its dual diagnosis program.

You can find a holistic drug rehab almost anywhere with a multitude of services. The one thing most holistic drug rehabs do not have are dual diagnosis services. The holistic drug rehabs say they treat the mind, but in fact in many cases that does not neccessarily include psychiatric disorders.
Psychiatric disorders can not be treated with vitamins. The holistic drug rehab must have a psychiatrist on staff inorder to effectively treat the dual diagnosis. After the physician makes his diagnosis and begins treatment, then they holistic drug rehab can begin to administer or implement the holistic services they have.

I gew up in Texas, Houston Texas to be precise and after 18 years of living in Houston, moved up to Dallas. Dallas was a better fit for me, but some strange things began to happen to me when I lived there. I became depressed out of nowhere and my soltuion was to turn to cocaine for the energy boost. Before I knew it I was traveling back and froth from Dallas to Houston to buy and sell cocaine. It was not long after that I saw a doctor who said I needed I needed dual diagnosis treatment. He explained that dual diagnosistreatment would treat my cocaine addiction and depression. While I knew I wanted depression treatment, I wan’t sure about treatment for my cocaine addiction.
After I ended up in a jail in Dallas Texas I relented and went in for dual diagnosis treatment.Dual diagnosis treatment was very hard and even harder to get adjusted to medicatin, but I did. After completing my dual diagnosis treatment my life fell back into place and I moved back to Houston, Texas. I felt it was a safer place to continue my recovery.

The best dual dioagnosis information you can find will probably be located in of two websites…www.recoveryconnection.org or www.dual-diagnosis-treatment-center.com. Both of these websites provide thorough dual diagnosis information. Information on dual diagnosis is much more plentiful now since research has began to make it available. For years dual diagnosis was treated by basically seperating the disorders and treating drug addiction seperately from the psychiatric disorder. The information on dual diagnosis has led professionals to realize that effective dual diagnosis treatment should treat both disorders concurrently. This type of information has led dual diagnosis treatment to be more effective and produce greater results.
You can also find dual diagnosis information by calling national helplines such as 1-800-99-DETOX.

The addiction treatment recovery program I attended helped save my life. As resistant as I was some how the staff at the addiction treatment recovery program got me to listen and follow their suggestions. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t want to, because at first I didn’t even want to be in addiction treatment, much less and addiction recovery program in Florida.
I wanted to leave this addiction treatment recovery program so bad one day, they even called my parents in for a meeting. I couldn’t believe it, first addiction treatment and now my family…..but guess what…..after my mother finished crying, I said I would try. I would try my best to stay in the addiction recovery program and complete addiction treatment.
My Addiction Recovery
Days went by and low and behold I started to get this addiction recovery thing…..I began to understand why I was so resistant to addiction treatment and the process of addiction. When my family visited the addiction recovery program this time, I had invited them. I would reccomend anyone with an addiction to get into an addiction treatment recovery program now.

Many rehabs used to treat dual diagnosis by referring patients to psych hospitals for their psychiatric problems or didn’t even admit the patient to rehab for dual diagnosis treatment. That type of dual diagnosis treatment didn’t work well as the disorders needed to be treated concurrently. Thus the development of a rehab and dual diagnosis treatment.
The rehabs began to hire psychiatrists to address the psychiatric component of the dual diagnosis. Therapists were better trained in mental health and dual diagnosis treatment, while dual diagnosis treatment was provided in a more gradual way. Today, almost every rehab provides dual diagnosis treatment, some better than others. This is important due to the fact that almost 50% of patients admitted to rehab require treatment for dual diagnosis.
For treatment for dual diagnosis in a rehab call the nation rehab helpline at 1-800-511-9225.

Dual diagnosis treatment in Maryland is not so easy to find when you really do not know where to go. I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland just outside of Towson, Maryland. As a teenager I remember feeling less than and depressed even before I began my drug use, which turned into drug addiction not long afterward. If one of the doctors that I saw would have looked at the depression and drug addiction and come up with the need for dual diagnosis treatment rather than just drug addiction treatment might have saved me alot of trouble. All I did was get worse so I knew I had to find some dual diagnosis treatment in Maryland that knew what they were doing.
Dual Diagnosis Helpline
A friend of mine who had gone through drug addiction treatment years before reccomended that I call this dual diagnosis helpline to locate a quality dual diagnosis program in Maryland, so I called the helpline. These helpline people understood exactly what I was looking for when I said” I needed a dual diagnosis program in Maryland”. After a lenghty evaluation, which I was very impressed with, they said they could find me a dual diagnosis program in Maryland, but wondered if I would travel if they could locate a better program for me. I told them I would rather stay in Maryland, but was willing to go anywhere to feel better. After checking out the dual diagnosis program in Maryland they gave me, I called the helpline people back to look into the other dual diagnosis program. The dual diagnosis helpline number is 1-800-511-9225.Florida Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Treatment for dual disorders can come in many styles, but the most effective dual disorder treatment probably takes place in a residential dual disorder program. Most people with dual disorders such as depression and drug addiction require 24 hour structure for drug addiction treatment and medication management in the early days.
Many psychiatrists try dual disorder treatment out of their offices with poor results due to addiction cravings and many patients reluctance to stay on medication. Another reason the treatment for dual disorders is better off in a residential dual disorder program is a patient’s need for medical detox services. Without medical detox services the patient is almost guaranteed to return to their old ways due to the pain. Whether you want to call it dual disorder treatment or dual diagnosis treatment, both disorders must be treated concurrently, with medical services available and psychiatric asssitance to produce the best results.
