Massachusettes Dual Diagnosis Rehab Saves Lives

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Growing up in Boston, Massachusettes in a blue collar family, I was taught to work hard and don’t let your feeling show or I would be taken advantage of. Well, that kind of attitude worked well with the guys, but over time sent me into a depression. I seemed to get angrier and angrier and with that came the depression. Until one day, I was introduced to crystal meth. To put it mildly, I gained back all the energy I had lost, it provided me with confidence and it seemed like I could do anything. I wasn’t depressed any longer. So, if one line made me feel good, two, three and four had to make me feel better. I would stay up for days wondering around Boston thinking I was happy as could be.

Then one day, I crashed and crashed hard. I ended up in Massachusettes General’s E.R. The depression was worse than before and I was diagnosed with a crystal meth addiction and depression. They reccomended a dual diagnosis rehab in Massachusettes. I told them they were crazy, checked out and went right back into my crystal meth addiction. This time I tried to commit suicide and grudgingly went to the dual diagnosis rehab.

After five days in a medical detox, the staff evaluated me and gave me medication for my depression and began rehab for my crystal meth addiction. It wasn’t long before I realized how sick I really was and became grateful that that doctor had told me about the dual diagnosis rehab. This Massachusettes dual diagnosis rehab provided me the dual diagnosis treatment I desperately needed. I came to understand that dual diagnosis treatmentdealt with my crystal meth addiction and deperssion at the same time. That one illness was capable of triggering the other.

Today, I work at the dual diagnosis rehab. If you are suffering, call a dual diagnosis helpline now. Don’t wait, it could be too late. You can reach a dual diagnosis helpline at 1-800-511-9225.

Ohio Residents Come to Florida for Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Even though there are many dual diagnosis treatment centers in Ohio, many of their residents are found attending dual diagnosis treatment in Florida. This may be due to the wide variety and comprehensiveness of dual diagnosis services provided in the Florida dual diagnosis treatment centers.

The Ohio centers seem to be generally designed to provide inpatient dual diagnosis treatment for 2-3 weeks, followed by partial hospitalization and outpatient. In far too many cases, this length of time for dual diagnosis treatment is not long enough nor does it provide the long term structure many of these patients require.

To locate a reputable dual diagnosis treatment program you can call 1-800-511-9225.

Depression Treatment Within a Drug Rehab

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

For many years I was able to use drugs successfully. No major problems, as a matter of fact the cocaine made me feel pretty good. It gave me a lot of energy that I lacked most of the time. Unfortunately it turned into cocaine addiction and I ended up in rehab. While in drug rehab and after detox, I seemed to get more depressed than most of the patients. They seemed to be feeling better and I seemed to be feeling worse.

After a few more days in treatment, I went to see the psychiatrist in the drug rehab and he diagnosed me with depression. He explained to me that one of the reasons I felt better with the cocaine is that it was a way to medicate the depression. I began depression treatment in conjunction with my addiction treatment. The depression treatment consisted of medication therapy, in my case Paxil, and meetings with my psychiatrist and therapist. I came to understand that the treatment for depression along with drug rehab was referred to as dual diagnosis. Truthfully, I was relieved to know that my problem had a solution.

If you are looking for depression treatment, dual diagnosis treatment or drug rehab you can call the national addiction helpline at 1-800-511-9225.

Alabama Dual Diagnosis Treatment Center Not a 28 Day Experience

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Drug rehab used to be thought of as a 28 day addiction treatment experience. Of course this number came about as it related to what an insurance company was willing to pay for rather than what the patient really needed. The same held true for dual diagnosis treatment until recently.

A dual diagnosis treatment center in Alabama began to evaluate patients on an individual basis in order to better design dual diagnosis treatment plans for them. Alabama dual diagnosis treatment began to turn into patient oriented rather than insurance oriented. As such, Alabama dual diagnosis treatment began to alter patient’s lengths of stay according to their needs. Some patients remained in addiction treatment or dual diagnosis treatment for longer periods of time. In many cases, they were were referred to dual diagnosis treatment in Florida for longer term care.

For some reason, there happen to be much more dual diagnosis treatment in Florida where patients can remain for up to six months or more. If you are trying to locate dual diagnosis treatment in Alabama or Florida dual diagnosis treatment you can call the national helpline at 1-800-511-9225.
